New CEO, COO at Bridgestone
Bridgestone Corporation has a new chief executive officer. On 11 January the company’s Board of Directors approved a number of senior personnel changes, including the appointment of Masaaki Tsuya to the role of CEO. Incumbent chairman of the Board, CEO and president Shoshi Arakawa will continue in the position of chairman of the Board, a role Bridgestone says has been “newly redefined”. The tyre maker has not named a successor to Arakawa as president.
Before his appointment as CEO, Tsuya served as senior vice-president, member of the Board responsible for Bridgestone’s Diversified Products, Sports and Cycle business, chief risk-management officer, chief human rights officer responsible for Corporate Administration, chief compliance officer, office of Group CEO, Internal Auditing. In his new role, Tsuya will continue to serve as a Representative Board member.
Taking on the newly established position of chief operating officer is Kazuhisa Nishigai, currently senior vice-president, member of the Board responsible for Bridgestone’s Japan Tire Business and Replacement Tire Sales. In his new role, Nishigai will continue as a Representative Board member.
