Firestone dusts off ‘Fuel Fighter’ name
Motorists seeking fuel efficient tyres in North America will soon discover a new name attached to Firestone tyres – Fuel Fighter. Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations (BATO) has revived the company trademark, which was first used in 1978, and is already affixing it to lower rolling resistance original equipment tyres. The tyre maker says selected replacement market fitments will be introduced in the near future.
“High gas prices continue to be an issue, and we realise that consumers want and need a more efficient tyre,” said Larry Magee, president, Consumer Tire US & Canada, BATO. “Fuel Fighter tyres have the same performance attributes that consumers have come to expect from Firestone, simply with the added benefit of better gas mileage.”
Michael Martini, president, Original Equipment, US and Canada Consumer Tire Sales Division, BATO, added: “When our OEMs requested a fuel-efficient option from the Firestone brand, Fuel Fighter was reborn. Fuel Fighter will be an important option for our original equipment partners in the future and we’re excited to provide them with a tyre that ultimately is a win-win when it comes to comfort and cost savings for the consumer.”
