Continental names new passenger car tyre sales director
Continental Tyre Group Ltd has named Phil Scanlan as its new passenger sales director. Scanlan takes over from Angus Smith who left the company after 10 years in the position to become commercial director with Micheldever Tyre Services at the end of 2011. Scanlan has been with Continental for over 25 years in varied positions such as regional sales manager, national accounts sales manager, car fleet sales manager, and European key account manager. Based at the German tyre manufacturer's UK head office in West Drayton, he will have overall responsibility for profitable sales and account management of independent, regional, national and wholesale accounts in the UK and ROI.
Commenting on the news Phil Scanlan said: “I am delighted to take Continental into the New Year as passenger sales director. Moving forward, I aim to continue the successes of my predecessor for Continental and its brands within the UK and Irish markets.’
Following the announcement of the appointment, David Smith, managing director at Continental Tyre Group Ltd, added: “I look forward to working closely with Phil through 2012 and wish him every success in his new role as passenger sales director.’
Scanlan is married and lives near Brentwood, Essex. In his spare time, he is the current Olympic Shooting team leader for the London 2012 Olympic Games, himself a previous Commonwealth Games medallist and British Champion Rifle Shooter.
