Bosch completes Unipoint takeover
Following approval from antitrust authorities, the Bosch Automotive Aftermarket division has completed its takeover of Taiwan’s Unipoint Group. The parties involved in the transaction have agreed not to disclose the purchase price and report that both existing Unipoint brands – Unipoint and NSA – will be retained by Bosch.
The Unipoint Group’s assets include a production location in Taiwan and another in mainland China, and the company has approximately 2,360 employees. In 2010 the group achieved sales of US$124 million. Bosch says the acquisition strengthens its Automotive Aftermarket’s position “as the leading supplier of starters and alternators” and represents an investment in the temperature control product segment. The acquisition also adds another Asian production base to its wiper blade business unit.
“By taking over the Unipoint Group, we can secure our position as the leading supplier of starters, alternators and wiper blades in the automotive aftermarket, as well as consistently expanding our business in Asia,” said Robert Hanser, chairman of the Divisional Board of Bosch’s Automotive Aftermarket division.
