Michelin tops satisfaction table in AutoPacific study
US-based automotive market research and product consulting firm AutoPacific has released the results of its most recent replacement tyre satisfaction study. After surveying more than 15,000 vehicles owners who purchased replacement tyres in the US during the past twelve months, AutoPacific determined Michelin to be the most satisfying tyre brand of the 28 included in the study, followed by Pirelli.
The study was used to determine what factors are important when choosing a replacement tyre and which brands provide the most satisfying experience over seven basic tyre categories – ultra high performance, high performance, touring, passenger car, light truck/SUV highway, light truck/SUV all terrain and winter. Each respondent was asked to rate
the importance of, and their satisfaction with, fourteen different tyre characteristics including: safety, durability, price, wet traction, handling, mileage warranty, brand reputation, ride comfort, dry traction, fuel efficiency, tyre noise and appearance, snow traction and off-road capability.
In addition to Michelin’s overall victory in the study, category winners were: Ultra high performance – Yokohama; high performance – Pirelli; touring – Hankook; passenger car – Michelin; light truck/SUV highway – Michelin; light truck/SUV all terrain – Michelin; winter – Firestone.
