Michelin recognized by US military
Michelin North America has been honoured with a 2011 Secretary of Defense Performance-Based Logistics (PBL) Award, reports Tire Review. The award was presented to the French manufacturer at a ceremony last week at the Aerospace Industries Association Fall Product Support Conference. MNA’s aircraft tyre unit was a PBL Component-Level Award recipient for supplying tyres to the US Navy.
“This award from the Secretary of Defense demonstrates Michelin’s expertise, reliability and commitment to supporting our Navy’s mobility requirements,” said Pete Selleck, chairman and president of Michelin North America. “The men and women of the US military make great sacrifices to serve our country. At Michelin, it is our privilege to serve them in return through our ‘right-tyre, on-time’ efforts.”
In addition to the PBL Award, MNA has been recognized before with eight consecutive Best Value Awards from the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). In 2011, Michelin was among a group of only 182 companies – out of more than 7,000 military parts suppliers – that were recognized by the DLA for meeting performance requirements in the Automated Best Value System.
