Michelin NA honoured for “exemplary policies” toward older workers
Every year the American Association of Retired Persons – AARP for short – lists its top fifty employers for workers over fifty. In 2011 Michelin North America once again made the top fifty – the fifth time it has been recognised in this way by the AARP.
The association ranked Michelin number 32 in its 2011 Best Employers for Workers Over 50 list. Announcing the tyre maker’s inclusion in this year’s list, following on from its presence in 2009, 2008, 2007 and 2005, AARP South Carolina state director Jane Wiley said “Michelin has demonstrated exemplary policies toward older workers and, once again, deserves this honour. Their progressive policies meet the needs of mature workers and benefit their organisation as well.”
“The expertise, knowledge and skills of our employees over the age of fifty help make Michelin the world’s leading tyre company,” added Wayne Culbertson, executive vice-president, Personnel and chief human resources officer at Michelin North America. “Michelin is proud to be recognised once again by the AARP with this award.”
