"It is official": Union City mayor announces Titan plant purchase

Following speculation, the mayor of Union City Terry L Hailey has confirmed Titan Internationsl's purchase of the former Goodyear plant in Union City, Tennessee in a Facebook status update. Hailey's Facebook message reads: "Good News! Titan Tire has bought the Goodyear facility in Union City. We look forward to a lasting relationship with Titan. It is official."

Hailey told news source Local 6 that Goodyear had told him Titan would make an official announcement today. The purchase by Titan is said to give some quick relief to the local employment situation, with the Union City community hit hard by Goodyear’s decision to close the plant, announced in February and actioned at the end of July this year.
