CES classic car rally brings crowds to Chester
Car parts distributor CES (UK) has held a classic car event on the streets of its hometown Chester. Car enthusiasts and shoppers were able to view a spectacular display of cars from the CES-sponsored Winter Challenge Rally lining the city centre. More than 70 cars were on show ahead of the four day rally to Monte Carlo, while their drivers, dressed in period costume, answered questions from the gathered crowds. CES says the rally was a great opportunity to showcase its brand and give a little boost to the local economy.
Chester City Management chairman Paul Daniels stated: “Our thanks to CES, for bringing the rally to Chester and for working with us to help boost trade in the city of Chester on Saturday. The crowds to see the cars were as big as any I have seen. I hope they will come again next year.”
Staff from CES, based in Chester for 26 years, helped throughout the afternoon, handing out promotional materials to shoppers. In addition the company recently ran their ‘Autosessive of the Year’ competition, for fans of its website Autosessive.com. This year’s winner was Richard Snowdon with his limited edition 1986 Ford Capri 280. Simon Moore, marketing manager presented his trophy and prizes during the day.
The following morning more than 1,000 spectators turned out to see the cars set-off for Monte Carlo. Chairman of CES and rally participant, Howard Warren was delighted with the reception: “That is as a big a welcome as we have ever had for any rally I have taken part in. To have over 1000 people come out on Sunday morning to see us off was very special.”
