Bridgestone to increase Hofu plant OTR radial capacity
Production of small and medium-size OTR radials for construction and mining vehicles will be increased at Bridgestone’s Hofu plant in Japan over the next couple of years in order to meet steady global growth in demand. As of June 2011 the plant manufactured around 82 tons of these products per day, along with some 20 tons of cross ply OTR tyres and around 12,500 passenger car radials; the tyre maker has earmarked 4.7 billion yen for this capacity expansion project and is planning on a 12 ton per day increase in its OTR radial output during the first quarter of 2014.
The Hofu plant entered service in August 1976 and currently 983 workers are employed at the 482,000 square metre site.
