Axle Group gain place in Sunday Times HSBC Top Track 250
Axle Group Holdings, the Glasgow group comprising the tyre retailer National Tyres and Autocare and wholesaler Viking International has been ranked in the Sunday Times HSBC Top Track 250 league table. Chairman Alan Revie began his career as a tyre fitter with National Tyres and Autocare at the age of 17. He became a branch manager just two years later before developing his career in the industry and then returning in 2001 to buy the business.
By 2010 sales had grown to £162.7 milion with an impressive 27 per cent rise in profits winning the group its league table entry. The company continues to grow, with an ambitious expansion programme underway. 25 new branches have been launched over the past year, and the plan is to launch a further 25 a year until the goal of 300 branches is achieved.
“It’s taken a lot of hard work and commitment from myself, the team of directors and every member of staff down to the last fitter to get Axle Group into this position,” said Alan Revie. “The company has been turned around into a debt free, profitable business and it’s great to be in a position where we can build on our success with this expansion programme. This year Axle Group ranked 246 on the Sunday Times HSBC Top Track 250 league table. With some hard work, commitment and a bit of luck, who knows where we’ll make it to next year!”
