Yokohama adds service training centre to Thailand test facility
Yokohama Rubber has opened a new facility at its Thailand-based Tire Test Center of Asia. The new ‘Tire Service Training Center’, which was officially inaugurated on October 14, will initially be used as a base for training sales representatives and technical services staff from Yokohama tyre sales companies in the Asia region; Yokohama Rubber says it plans to utilise the centre to train technical services and other staff from other parts of the world “in due course.”
At present, Yokohama Rubber stations Technical Service Department members in its major overseas bases. The tyre maker says it established the Tire Service Training Center to help fulfil its strategy of elevating consumer trust in the Yokohama brand by improving global technical service capabilities through pragmatic, systematic training based on an identical programme.
The Tire Test Center of Asia opened in opened in April 2009 and is equipped with a 4.1 kilometre high speed track and other facilities including a wet course and test courses that reproduce a variety of road surface conditions around the world. In addition, the production facility operated by Yokohama Tire Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. are located nearby, enabling training to include practical aspects of tyre manufacture.
