Varta wins industry awards for start-stop batteries
Varta’s start-stop batteries have scooped two industry awards, reinforcing the brand’s prominence in both the OE and European aftermarket. Heading the accolades is a bronze Edison Best New Product Award in the Energy and Sustainability category. The annual Edison Awards are one of the most renowned business prizes, with the jury honouring the most progressive, creative and successful products and services from industry and commerce.
Volkswagen has also recognised VARTA’s outstanding performance. The VARTA Start-Stop Plus battery received a Volkswagen Group Award for its exceptional performance and outstanding heat resistance. It also gained full clearance and obtained all possible quality certifications. This was the first time a battery has received an award from a vehicle manufacturer.
Johnson Controls has already sold around 3.5 million VARTA Start-Stop batteries as original equipment – a figure that is set to rise dramatically as the market in both Europe and the rest of the world grows significantly. The company is also looking forward to similar developments in the US and China. Forecasts indicate that 35 million Start-Stop batteries will have been produced in Europe by the end of 2015, a further boost for the replacement parts market.
