Michelin announces 2012 additions to motorcycle track portfolio
Next year, Michelin will introduce three new track-oriented motorcycle tyre ranges: The Power Cup, a replacement for the Power One Competition, and the Power Slick and Power Rain to replace the company’s current slick and rain line-ups.
Power Cup
Michelins states that excellent grip when cornering and accelerating was a focus when developing the Power Cup, and the end result is a product that enables faster lap times than its predecessor. The front tyre is said to provide manoeuvrability, stability and progressive responsiveness, especially when braking, while the rear tyre reportedly improves grip when cornering without sacrificing longevity. “In this way it delivers the performance balance that is characteristic of all Michelin tyres, offering a combination of easy handling, safety (thanks to its superior grip) and high total mileage,” the tyre maker states. The Power Cup will be available in January 2012.
Power Slick and Power Rain
Available as of January 2012, the Michelin Power Slick is said to offer easier handling as well as safety in all phases of track riding, while the Power Rain, which will be released in May 2012, reportedly reveals its outstanding performance features on wet tracks, with a “fountain” tread design that disperses a maximum amount of water.
