Indian govt looking into tyre quality claims
India’s Consumer Affairs minister, K V Thomas, states his ministry has begun looking into complaints made about poor quality ISO certified tyres. Speaking to The Economic Times, Thomas shared that “some tyre companies, who have ISO certification, are not adhering to the quality standards. We have received complaints about poor quality tyres. We are seriously looking into them."
Thomas declined to name which particular tyre makers are under scrutiny, however he urged manufacturers and exporters to fully comply with ISO standards as the certification reassures consumers about the products or services they receive. “This (ISO certification) gives manufacturers confidence to reach out to the global markets with the knowledge that their products will compete globally and users can be confident and assured of the uniformity in the quality.”
