Illinois developer buys former Cooper plant
The shuttered Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. tyre plant in Albany, Georgia, has been sold to an Illinois developer, according to Tire Review. No details of how much was paid have yet been released.
Hilco Real Estate LLC, based in Northbrook, Illinois, reportedly purchased the land for $8.5 million. The developer is looking at tearing down portions of the plant, while it will retain the 400,000-square-foot warehouse area that Cooper still uses as a distribution center.
The plant was shut down some two years ago, putting 1,400 people out of work. (Tire Review)
