Hankook DTM tyre supplied for NZ V8 Supertourer championship
The V8 SuperTourer championship in New Zealand has announced that Hankook will supply the tyres it developed for the German-based DTM series. The Korean manufacturer will hold the exclusive position for the next three years following a period of testing.
Championship entrants will run on the Ventus F200 slick and the Ventus Z207 wet. V8SuperTourers managing director Mark Petch said, reported by FEN magazine: “The compounds and construction of Hankook’s tyres are world-leading. Where other tyres we tested had limited durability and would begin to blister, the Hankook tyres do not. They certainly exceeded our expectations.”
Hankook race tyre development engineer Roy Cha said: “We have spent thousands of hours researching, developing and testing our tyre constructions and compounds across many racing series worldwide. The V8SuperTourer chassis is highly developed and an excellent race car. In testing we saw similar results to what we see in DTM racing. Being able to transfer that expertise was a great advantage for Hankook.”
