Trelleborg announces largest super single tractor tyre ever produced
Trelleborg Wheel Systems has announced that it will introduce the TM1000 High Power tyre at the Agrotechnica exhibition held between 15 and 19 November, 2011 in Hannover, Germany. With a height and overall diameter of 2,300mm and a 46” rim, the manufacturer says the TM1000 is the largest super single tyre ever produced. It is engineered to meet the requirements the new generation of tractor engines and transmissions, a segment whose specifications have continued to grow in power and size alongside farm sizes and the increased use of agricultural contractors.
Paolo Pompei, president of the Agricultural and Forestry Tires division of Trelleborg Wheel Systems, says: “The TM1000 High Power tyre is the result of substantial investments in R&D and manufacturing technology, along with years of joint development initiatives with leading tractor manufacturers. We pride ourselves on our innovation and this tyre anticipates the size and power of tractors in the future.
“We are extremely satisfied with the results from tests which show that the new solution is exceeding expectations in any work condition and over the long term. The ambition of this project is to redefine standards within the agricultural industry, to provide the farmer with a top class solution capable of boosting the productivity and the efficiency of the farm, while fully respecting the environment.”
The tyre is currently undergoing a significant number of indoor and outdoor tests in order to meet ambitious performance targets under the most severe conditions, both in the field and on the road. During field operations Trelleborg claims the tyre gives a traction capacity five to eight per cent higher compared to other premium brand competitors, with a five per cent wider footprint at low inflation pressure enhanced, Trelleborg states, by its BlueTire technology. On the road, premium rolling resistance performance is expected to lower fuel consumption and emissions by four to six per cent compared to the average for the market. Trelleborg estimates this could provide farmers with savings of up to 1,300 EUR per year.
Trelleborg says the tyre’s development was developed particularly with farming productivity and environmental care in mind. It believes the new tyre can help promote sustainable farming technologies, such as the production of renewable and alternative sources of energy, precision farming and advanced recycling techniques.
