Standards Testing Labs to host tyre technology seminar
Registration is now open for Standards Testing Laboratories annual Tyre Technology Seminar, held on 18-20 October, 2011 at the company's Massillon, Ohio headquarters. The seminar is a two and a half day event that aims to provide “a comprehensive overview of the technology employed by the tyre industry,” according to the STL. Speakers from the engineering, chemistry and mechanics/vehicle dynamics fields will address topics including tyre testing, tyre design and research, tyre engineering and compounding, product development and advanced concepts. The deadline to register for the seminar is 30 September.
STL’s Tyre Tech seminar is designed to appeal to those directly or indirectly involved in the tire industry and to provide an overview of tire design, construction and performance. The course includes an overview on the process of tyre manufacturing, including raw materials, techniques, equipment and processes. In addition, attendees will discuss industry regulatory and legislative activity, the major service issues facing the industry, the basics of tyre uniformity and rolling resistance, as well as an overview of wheels, their types and how they are manufactured and tested.
It will also cover special interest topics, such as wet and dry traction and UTQG testing and grading and hydroplaning. Participants will tour the testing labs at STL’s facility for a first-hand description of test equipment and methodology, and have the opportunity to participate in open Q&A sessions throughout the course.
Registration is $975 and includes admission to the conference, all materials, three luncheons, an evening banquet and refreshments throughout the course. Interested parties can register online or call 800.833.8547 to request a form.
