Pro-Align announces second BTCC technical partnership
Days after the announcement of Pro-Align’s foray into the world of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, current points leader Mat Jackson’s Airwaves Racing Ford Focus ST has now joined AmD Milltek Racing.com’s VW Golf in signing up the wheel alignment equipment distributor for the remaining four rounds of this years’ Championship. Jackson’s Focus will undergo several complete wheel alignment checks during the race weekend using state-of-the-art Hunter wheel alignment equipment supplied by Pro-Align. The team expects the process to improve its performance through fast and reliable measurements which in turn, will allow them to make accurate and repeatable adjustments and fine-tuning to the car’s set-up between races. When not racing, the car will also be given the total Hunter treatment at the Motorbase Performance headquarters in Kent.
Airwaves Racing Team Manager Oly Collins said: “Because we work to such tight tolerances and high performance levels, it’s vital we have complete faith in the equipment we use. There are no margins for error, so it’s great to have Pro-Align on board providing the very latest Hunter equipment.”
As part of the agreement, race fans will also now see the Pro-Align logo on Jackson’s car as he battles the other drivers around some of the world’s most famous race circuits yet to be visited by the BTCC this year, including Silverstone and Brands Hatch.
“It’s fantastic news to help Mat in his push to clinch the BTCC crown. At this level of competition any little advantage can make the difference between winning and losing, so the benefits offered by wheel alignment, including better handling, can tip the balance,” said Paul Beaurain, managing director, Pro-Align.
Jackson is no stranger to the advantages offered by wheel alignment, as he also works at his family firm, Jacksons Ford in Henley-in-Arden, Warwickshire, where the Hunter wheel alignment and balancing equipment has been used for six years.
Jackson, who plays a key role in how his car is set up for racing, said: “I’ve seen at our dealership the benefits of wheel alignment with our Hunter equipment. If the improved handling it delivers is replicated in my racing car then I’ll stand every chance of extending my lead further and clinching this year’s title.” Pro-Align equipment will first be used on his car at the next BTCC round at Knockhill on 4 September.
