Nizhnekamskneftekhim ramps up butyl rubber production
On August 25 2011 the third rubber so-called “welding” finishing and drying line was officially put into operation at OAO Nizhnekamskneftekhim’s butyl rubber plant. The hairman of the board of directors of OAO Nizhnekamskneftekhim, general director of PSC TAIF A. Shigabutdinov, general director of OAO Nizhnekamskneftekhim V. Busygin and members of the company's board of directors attended the official ceremony.
Halobutyl rubber production started in Russia in 2004, when the first halobutyl finishing line in the country was commissioned at OAO Nizhnekamskneftekhim. According to the company, it became the third halobutyl rubber producer in the world and the first in Russia. New technology was introduced using the classic scheme: development of technology in scientific research laboratories, process trial at a pilot plant, preproduction tests at domestic tyre plants, assimilation of industrial production.
With the launch of halobutyl rubber production OAO Nizhnekamskneftekhim aimed to hold its niche in the global market. Having strengthened its position, petro-chemists continued to work on further development of upcoming trend. In 2006 the second halobutyl finishing line was put into operation.
According to Nizhnekamskneftekhim, the implementation and control system of the new plant is analogous to the previous two lines, but the latest reportedly has double capacity.
OAO Nizhnekamskneftekhim reports that its products have “quickly entered foreign markets, proving their competitiveness.” About 93 per cent of halobutyl rubbers are exported to European, Asian and American markets. Halobutyl rubbers produced at OAO Nizhnekamskneftekhim are repotedly accepted and certified by global tyre-producers like Michelin, Pirelli, Goodyear, Bridgestone, Continental.
