Nexen Tyre opens warehouse in Fulda
Nexen Tyre Europe GmbH is aiming to offer faster tyre supply to its German customers after opening a 2,000 square metre warehouse in Fulda, which became operational last month.
The warehouse is designed to hold up to 50,000 tyres. Approximately 10,000 tyres can be packaged and dispatched every day by qualified warehouse operators. Delivery is made according to the quantity ordered by parcel service, either as a group freight delivery or as a lorry load.
Wholesalers and tyre resellers previously had to take delivery directly from Korea or China. Europe-based stock allows delivery time to be shortened from approximately three months to 24-48 hours, promoting customers’ confidence in reliable and timely supply. The frequent delays typical of the long travel distance between Korea/China and Hamburg are absorbed by the German warehouse.
Tyres arrive in Frankfurt by rail after being dispatched to the port of Hamburg, and from there they are transported, by truck, to Fulda. This location was chosen because of its position in the centre of Germany, the quick and affordable delivery route, and the close proximity to the Rhein-Main area, where Nexen Tyre Europe GmbH and Nexen Europe Technical Center have their headquarters.
According to the company, the decision to set up the first warehouse in Germany was also a logical conclusion to Nexen’s plan to start expanding in the European markets by initially placing emphasis on Germany.
John Bosco Kim, CEO of Nexen Tyre Europe GmbH, stressed the importance of the German market for expansion in Europe: “The German tyre market leads both in terms of manufacturing and dealer networks: what becomes established here will also assert itself in other European countries.”
