Michelin inner tube wins Eurobike Gold Award
Michelin’s Protek Max inner tube has been presented with a Gold Award in the accessories category at the 2011 Eurobike Awards. A jury of bicycle industry experts decided the Michelin product was worthy of one of 10 gold medals. 430 products were entered. In the last seven years of the awards, the jury has rewarded innovation, practicality, environmental friendliness and longevity with Eurobike awards.
In presenting the award, the jury members cited the fact that the inner tube is puncture resistant, easy to mount and maintains tyre pressure when the bike is not in use. Michelin says these improvements in bicycle tyre technology have seen the inner tube “effectively reinvented”.
The Protek Max seals itself in the event of a puncture. Extra rubber around the inner tube helps to reduce surface tension, while also compressing the hole. A preventive sealant plugs the puncture thereby ensuring long-term air-tightness. The inner tube is available in the two tyre sizes for city, trekking and mountain bikes and can be used with a wide range of tyres.
