Kumho signs up for three more Masters of F3 years
Kumho has furthered its long standing support for European F3 by extending its sponsorship of the annual Masters of F3 meeting by three years. The agreement was ratified during an official signing ceremony that followed this year’s event at Zandvoort on 13-14 August.
In front of the world’s F3 media, contracts were exchanged between Kumho’s head of marketing, Duncan K Cho, and Erik Weijers of Circuit Park Zandvoort. Weijers outlined the success of the partnership over the last 10 years, while Cho said he was looking forward to an even closer relationship in the future. Kumho’s European motorsport manager, Steve Thompson, explained the importance of motorsport to the development of the company’s road tyres and the related marketing strategy.
Kumho provides in excess of 1,200 wet and dry weather tyres for the Masters of F3 meeting alone, and has been widely praised for the new product it designed for this year’s Formula 3 Euro Series. With F3 being a long established stepping stone to F1, the requirement was to design a tyre with similar characteristics to those currently used for Grand Prix racing. Kumho says “it is rewarding… to know that tomorrow’s F1 aces will have honed their skills on Kumho rubber – as did Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg, Robert Kubica, Adrian Sutil, Sebastien Buemi and Timo Glock before them.”
