HiQ announces grid girl finalists
It’s said to have required “much deliberating, cogitating and digesting,” yet the shortlist for HiQ's national grid girl competition is now ready. The fast fitter says this year’s competition received an overwhelming response from grid girl wannabes all over the UK. According to HiQ marketing manager Geraldine McGovern, the company was “overwhelmed with entries and it was a tough decision shortlisting the final ten.”
The ten selected are: The final ten are: Polly May Mewse, Laura Haynes, Lauren Hadley, Koren Wright, Rachael Patterson, Alexandra Doggarts, Amy Jackson, Beverley Edwards, Emma Coates and Louise Sumpter. Voting for the favourite grid girl – photos and bios can be read on the hiqonline.co.uk website – is now open and the winner will don the iconic pink race suit and represent Team Aon at the last round of the British Touring Car Championship at Silverstone on October 16.
In addition to sharing a “genuine love for the British Touring Car Championships,” McGovern added that many entrants have, in some way or form, being affected by cancer – an issue close to HiQ’s heart. “The aim of the competition is to raise awareness of our partnership with Breast Cancer Care and our fundraising programme project pink and it’s great to see so many entrants wanting to be involved in this,” she commented. “Good luck to all those that made it into the shortlist, it’s going to be extremely hard picking a winner.”
The HiQ Pink Grid Girl competition will coincide with a fundraising drive at Silverstone on October 15 and 16, where giant foam spanners, pink hats and novelty headwear will be given away in return for donations to Breast Cancer Care.
