Wheel alignment website announces BTCC “technical sponsorship”
Wheel alignment information portal alignmycar.co.uk has announced a “technical sponsorship” deal with British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) team AmD Milltek Racing.com. Under the agreement, the team will carry prominent AlignMyCar branding on its VW Golf for the remaining four rounds of the 2011 BTCC season. The team will be equipped with a state of the art four wheel aligner at their Essex headquarters, which will be used to set up the race car and give local motorists and performance enthusiasts the opportunity to have their own vehicles properly aligned.
“Wheel alignment really is an important service for all drivers, regardless of whether they are competing at the highest levels of motorsport, or simply commuting to and from work every day,” explains Shaun Hollamby, team principal, AmD Milltek Racing.com. “Not only will the imaging alignment equipment help us to be more competitive on track, but it will also give our fans and road car customers the opportunity to have their car restored to the vehicle manufacturers’ original settings or tuned to their bespoke requirements.”
Website boss and owner of Pro-Align Paul Beaurain says: “Four wheel alignment is an essential service for all drivers. From making driving safer and more comfortable through to helping tyres and fuel last longer, it’s a service that everyone should consider on a regular basis. We’re delighted to team up with Shaun and AmD to help educate drivers about alignment and hopefully we can help to dispel the myths and unscramble the industry jargon with a wealth of information that should help ‘point’ any visitor in the right direction.”
A combination of rising fuel and tyre prices coupled with more potholes on the UK’s roads has led to an increased demand and appreciation of wheel alignment services with many motorists, particularly with performance enthusiasts, according to the website. Many drivers remain unaware that misalignment results in higher running costs caused by rapid tyre wear and higher fuel consumption, as well as reduced safety and comfort. Furthermore, others are confused about what is the best service to ask for, resulting from different terminology and industry jargon such as tracking, laser alignment and many other phrases.
AlignMyCar.co.uk aims to be an informative online source of wheel alignment information to help correct misunderstandings and promote the importance of wheel alignment. By visiting the site, drivers can understand why wheel alignment is important, what they should look for in a service provider and, by using the search facility, find a local workshop that uses the latest wheel alignment measuring technology providing a level of service transparency, through supplying a full alignment measurement printout of the results.
“As tyre and fuel prices continue to increase, drivers can ill afford rapid, premature wear and even higher fuel bills. By coming to the AlignMyCar site and then having their vehicle checked by one of our listed workshops, drivers can ensure that their car is returned to the vehicle manufacturers’ original, optimal specification,” concludes Beaurain.
