Tyrespot saves time with EDIWheel
MAM Software has announced that Tyrespot is using its EDIWheel tyre ordering module. Almost all of Tyrespot's tyre purchases are now conducted electronically, saving the company hours of administration and paperwork.
EDIWheel is a commonly agreed e-commerce protocol, developed by the major tyre manufacturers to communicate on a business-to-business (B2B) basis with their trade customers. By conforming to EDIWheel, MAM’s tyre ordering module allows users to easily check stock, place orders and see delivery schedules without having to phone suppliers or use browser-based portals.
Working directly from within MAM’s Autopart business management software, the tyre ordering module enables users to retrieve real-time stock availability, place immediate purchase orders and receive real-time line-level acknowledgements.
“EDIWheel ordering from within Autopart is extremely simple” said Alan Tippin, wholesale director at Tyrespot. “We just raise a purchase order and press a button. No more printing, faxing or phone calls. We use it for all our major manufacturer orders. It saves us hours of admin and eliminates mountains of paperwork. Some manufacturers have thoroughly embraced the technology. Not only do they return instant acknowledgements, they also suggest alternatives for tyres that are not currently in stock, or provide delivery schedules to indicate when they will be available.”
“EDIWheel offers considerable advantages to tyre wholesalers like Tyrespot” said Steve Page, National Sales Manager for Tyre Products at MAM Software. “By taking full advantage of EDIWheel’s capabilities, our software enables tyre manufacturers to almost become ‘virtual warehouses’ where stock information can be accessed immediately and orders raised instantly.”
“Transacting electronically not only saves time and money, it also eliminates the possibility of human error when an order is re-keyed by the supplier. As we continue to develop the EDIWheel functionality within Autopart, the scope for efficiency savings will increase.”
