Sofima Filters developing new CNG/LPG filter range
Sofima Filters has announced the development of a new range of filters for LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) and CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) fuelled car engines. Sofima Filters leading stockist Fuel Parts UK’s managing director Andy West said: “Sofima Filters is consistently demonstrating its ability to progress the aftermarket range of filters on offer. The keen advances and continual growth is why we don’t hesitate to recommend their product range to our clients.”
The new filter consists of a separate, in-line filtering device positioned between the regulator and the injectors’ rail (low pressure) with the function to filter LPG in the gas phase in order to protect the integrity of the injectors. It has an aluminium body produced by the extrusion process of cylindrical form; low pressure losses; a filter cartridge in ‘rolled up paper’ with a filtration grade of up to 10 micron; rubber hose fittings for internal/external diameter 12/14 mm; and a maximum working pressure of 250 kPa. The manufacturer recommends replacement every 20,000 km.
LPG and methane are generally considered eco-friendly fuels, because they do not contain benzene or lead and their combustion does not emit sulphur, aldehydes and heavy particulates, which are present in ordinary fuels.
The first part released in the range of LPG/CNG filters developed by Sofima Filters is original equipment on LPG/CNG systems included in the Fiat Punto Evo LPG, LPG-Opel Corsa D Tech, Seat Ibiza V Dual, versions GPLine of Škoda Fabia II, Octavia and Octavia Wagon II, Roomster, Volkswagen Golf and Golf Plus BiFuel and the Touran. Sofima Filters is also currently in the research phase of projects suitable for other systems, broadening its range during the year.
