Nokian employs ‘C3’ system to organise product and materials scheduling
Canadian specialist yard management and dock scheduling software solutions provider C3 Solutions reports that Nokian Tyres has adopted its C3 Reservations system in its key European manufacturing facilities and distribution centres. The Finnish manufacturer’s sites in Nokia and in Vsevolozhsk, Russia are two locations named as beneficiaries of the new system, which is intended to optimise the scheduling of raw materials and finished products to, from and between the company’s facilities.
“C3 Reservations was the only product that was able to meet our strenuous requirements,” stated Veikko Laukkanen, project manager at Nokian Tyres. “We knew that we needed an advanced appointment scheduling system we just didn’t believe there was one out there.”
As C3 Solutions explains, Nokian Tyres faced several key challenges regarding appointment scheduling in Europe. Raw materials must arrive on time at manufacturing plants, finished products need to be brought to regional distribution centres and, finally, product must be delivered from distribution centres to local dealers. Furthermore, to meet Nokian’s requirements, any implemented solution had to be web-based, easy to deploy and functional in multiple languages.
The C3 Reservations system functions by optimising scheduling to each type of facility within the network. Nokian is now able to automate the communication between schedulers and third parties, expand the visibility of product movements throughout the enterprise and provide a means to consolidate paperwork for each shipment.
