Mitas introduces Agraterra flotation tyre
Designed specifically for use on trailers, the new Agriterra flotation tyre from Mitas delivers significantly better on- and off-road performance than any other premium trailer tyre, combined with greater reliability, reduced downtime, a 15 per cent longer working life and a significant improvement in overall operating economy, according to CGS Tyres, which has just launched it in the UK.
Available in 600/55R26.5, 650/65R30.5 and 710/50R26.5 sizes, the new tyre combines high load capacity with excellent performance. Its radial construction incorporates a steel impact ply which makes the tyre much more durable, provides significantly greater resistance to punctures and makes for quieter running on the road. Providing a much larger contact area than competitor products, says CGS, the tyre has a load capacity rating of up to 12,780 kg and a maximum operating speed of up to 65 km/h.
“The new AGRITERRA tyre reflects the trend for UK farmers to use ever-larger trailers over much longer distances, including a significant increase in on-road mileage. Development work started in 2009 and has resulted in a product which offers significant practical benefit for UK farmers,” explains Ron Wood, Automotive Engineering Manager for CGS Tyres UK Ltd. He adds:
“The new tyre incorporates a reinforced shoulder area which increases durability by seven per cent. It also has a unique, easily identifiable tread pattern that incorporates a nine per cent larger contact area than other premium tyres, which reduces wear and tear. The Mitas Agriterra tyre can be used on trailers which are capable of carrying up to 12 tonnes per axle and tests by CGS Tyres have demonstrated that it has a significantly longer operating life than competing premium brands, representing approximately six months of additional use under typical operating conditions.”
The new AGRITERRA range is available in three sizes: 600/55 R 26.5. Suitable for AG 20.00 rims, it has a tyre section width of 626mm, an outer diameter of 1335mm and a maximum load capacity of up to 9270kg. 710/50 R 26.5. For AG 24.00 (AG 20.00) rims. The tyre has a section width of 730mm, an outer diameter of 1395mm and a maximum load of 10,800kg. 650/65 R 30.5. Fits AG 24.00 rims and features a 680mm tyre section, an outside diameter of 1630mm and a maximum load of 12,780kg.
