Maxxis snow tyre tops Dutch Government tests
The most recent version of ‘De Nieuwe Band’ (The New Tyre), a list of tyres commissioned by the Dutch Government to highlight winter tyres that are safe, fuel efficient and low noise, found that the Maxxis MA-PW was alone among the 45 tyres tested to already meet forthcoming EU standards for wet grip, rolling resistance co-efficient and rolling sound emission.
According to the Taiwan-based manufacturer, like all Maxxis winter weather tyres, the MA-PW is engineered to cope with “extreme temperatures and slippery surfaces.” Manufactured from an advanced, specially formulated soft tread compound, it has proved its reliability throughout Europe where many countries legislate to ensure motorists switch over to winter weather tyres at the appointed time.
With a unidirectional zigzag design in the shoulder area and high density S-type sipes, the Maxxis MA-PW is designed to deliver grip and traction on snow along with superb wet and straight-line stability. Additional deep V-grooves expel water more efficiently to improve wet weather handling and the low-noise tread pattern pitch sequence is purpose designed to ensure an ultra-quiet ride.
Other winter products Maxxis distributes include: Maxxis MA-SPW Wintermaxx, a studdable winter tyre with zigzag multi-pitched tread blocks for enhanced traction in snowy conditions plus high density S-type tread siping to ensure superior water dispersal; the Maxxis MA-SW Victra Snow, a unidirectional snow terrain tyre developed specifically for the 4×4 market; the Maxxis MA-W1 Wintermaxx, a high performance winter tyre combining traction with a quiet ride; and finally the Maxxis MA-W2 Wintermaxx, featuring a symmetrical zigzag tread for enhanced traction, especially in snow. cka
Maxxis reports that all its winter tyres have been designed to disperse water and snow and deliver improved grip using Virtual Intelligent Prototyping (VIP) technology and are available in a wide range of popular sizes. For extra peace of mind they also come with the Maxxis Lifetime Guarantee, under which Maxxis will replace any tyre which demonstrates a defect due to the manufacturing process or materials used or which shows irreparable damage resulting from normal road use.
