Federal and SA Tyres host South Africa ride-and-drive event
SA Tyres and manufacturer Federal have hosted a riding experience for its clients and salesmen at Gerotek Testing Facility near Johannesburg, where business partners participating in the 2011 One Day Test Drive programme from all over the country. The event was designed to give dealers the opportunity to see how Federal tyres are evaluated in a test in hazardous driving conditions.
In keeping with the theme of the event, attendees were given an hour of driving instruction in the wet and dry skid pan before driving around the track under the guidance of qualified drivers. The track contains a variety of surfaces at speeds exceeding 180kmh, which tests the road holding and handling capabilities of the tyres.
“The development of Federal applications featuring low rolling resistance compound and construction was impressive in terms of noise, vibration and harshness. You can tell the difference from behind the wheel, especially when navigating through obstacle road course in a valley with rapid ascents and decents, including airborne travel and 90 degree turns at very high speeds,” stated the management of SA Tyres, managing directors Troy Carter and David Evans.
“We have run the annual program for years. Our goal was to clearly demonstrate the tyre’s performance by convincing our visitors and sales force with a personal experience that built a true profession of knowledge and confidence in them when it comes to sell Federal tyres.”
