Tyre lorry blaze closes A417

A fire that destroyed a lorry transporting tyres was responsible for the closure of part of the A417 in Gloucestershire yesterday. Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue service crews were called to the scene at 7.14am and the first engine was on the scene less than 20 minutes later. The fire was extinguished by the fire crews fairly quickly, however the road remained closed to southbound traffic – as it required resurfacing – until around 6.00am this morning.
