Titan establishes mining services company
Off-road tyre specialist Titan International has formed a new company, Titan Mining Services. The initial location where this company will operate is Fort Mackay, in the Canadian province of Alberta; Titan Mining Services will offer complete tyre, wheel and track services for end users.
Titan says it chose to launch the new company in Canada’s oil sands due to the large quantity of equipment used in the region. Titan Mining Services is to operate in partnership with Saskatoon Wholesale Tire, who has been in the area for a number of years and represents Titan Tire there.
According to Titan chairman and CEO Maurice Taylor Jr., Titan has already been approached by a number of mines regarding the new service and the company intends to rapidly expand the business into other global regions. “As we expand, Titan will be working with local businesses in all areas of the world,” said Taylor. “Titan is the only company worldwide who has the engineering expertise on wheels, tyres and track components, and we will be training many new technicians.”
An announcement on who has been appointed to head Titan Mining Services will be made soon, the company says. In the meantime, the company will be headquartered at Titan’s corporate offices in Quincy, Illinois.
