Sailun developing European truck tyre distribution network
Following the recent establishment of a new European management team based in Birmingham and headed by Martin West, Chinese-based tyre manufacturer Sailun reports that inroads have been made in the creation and development of a specialist European truck tyre distributor network. Appointments and partnerships have already been established in Spain (Grupo Soledad), Italy (Intergomma), United Kingdom (Kirkby Tyres), Ukraine (Shina Trading), Poland (Handlopex), Latvia (Lattakko) and Sweden (Dackarna).
As you might expect, Martin West is keen to point out that the Sailun approach is one of quality, both in product and in distribution: “Our overall and primary objective is to get the right partners on board to represent the Sailun brand. This is not a question of putting flags on a map – we are determined to recruit the best – the most appropriate and representative group of truck tyre distributors for the brand.”
West continued: “The Sailun truck tyre portfolio is recognised for its exceptional and unique product quality. Our Sailun stand at the recent Autopromotec show in Bologna was visited by a large number of seriously interested distributors. We are able to select our representatives and distributors in a very quality-conscious fashion – we will continue to do this as we develop and expand our European Sailun truck tyre distributor network.” According to the company, this strategy was most recently applied in the French market and has resulted in the successful appointment of the highly-renowned Montbartier-based distributor, Doumerc Pneus International.
Recent IPO offers investment opportunities
As Tyres & Accessories reported in the July issue, more than two months ago Sailun’s corporate headquarters embarked on an initial public offering (IPO), which is said to have raised around 1 billion yuan at the stock exchange. 98 million shares have been sold at around US$1 each, meaning the company now has access to three-digit millions for capital expenditure.
Company representatives have since confirmed that the funds raised through the IPO will be invested in Sailun’s research and development capabilities and in expanding production capacity.
Manufactured in a 400,000 square metre factory located in the National Economic and Technological Development Zone near Qingdao, Shandong Province, China, Sailun representatives report that the company’s range of truck tyres is renowned for “durability, robustness, appropriateness and overall quality.”
Sailun truck tyres have been developed for use in a number of truck tyre applications including long distance trucking, local buses, pick-up and delivery vehicles, as well as for use on dump trucks and tractor trailers.
