First Tyrexpo India prompts organisers to confirm dates 2013 show
The first staging of Tyrexpo India 2011 in Chennai was said to have been so successful that organisers ECI International have announced the dates for the next show in 2013. Managing director Paul Farrant said: “Our original intention was to review the show for several months before reaching a decision on a follow up, but we’ve already seen enough to make the decision with confidence that the show will be back in Chennai from 9-11 July 2013.”
One exhibitor hailed the show as a ‘monumental success’: “We have had our sights set on entering the Indian Market for quite some time stemming from the vast potential that is the result of the country’s exponential commercial growth,” explained Gopiraj KV, CEO of ZAFCO, adding: “Tyrexpo India 2011 was the right step in the right direction for the tyre industry in the region and to facilitate ZAFCO’s international expansion into India. Not only were we able to announce ZAFCO’s plans for establishing 84 trucking centres across Northern and Western India to meet the needs of the industrial and commercial sector with Double Coin, we were also able to showcase Zeetex – ZAFCO’s own brand of tyres, batteries and lubricants.
Positive feedback was reportedly received from other exhibitors including BKT, Elgi Rubber, Unipatch, Schrader Duncan, Bainite Machines and Tal, a member of the TATA Group. Around 35 per cent of the 80 plus exhibitors have already re-booked for the 2013 exhibition.
According to the organisers, more than 3,970 trade visitors from India and more than 20 overseas countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Italy, Germany, UK, France, China, UAE, Nepal, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, Kenya, Sweden, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Korea, Holland, Slovakia and Zimbabwe visited the three-day event.
The exhibition was officially opened by Elgi Rubber, a long-standing Indian supporter of Tyrexpo shows around the world. Guest of Honour, Sudarsan Varadaraj, Elgi’s managing director, welcomed the show to India saying that the timing was right for an event that showcased the best of India’s emerging tyre and equipment aftermarket. He also praised the choice of Chennai, India’s motor city, as the venue for the country’s first dedicated tyre trade event.
