Conti appoints Ireland logistics partner
Continental Tyre Group has appointed Irish Global Logistics (IGL) as its distribution partner for the Republic of Ireland on a 32 county basis. Under the terms of the agreement, IGL will be responsible for transporting the various Continental Tyre Group tyre brands, including Continental, Semperit, Uniroyal and Barum, from Continental’s UK distribution centre to customers in Ireland. The agreement brings dealers in Ireland a number of benefits, including enhanced 24 hour deliveries and improved ‘track and trace’ on all deliveries. Continental Tyre Group will have the use of dedicated office space at the IGL headquarters in Swords, County Dublin.
“The appointment of IGL as our logistics partner for Ireland means we will be better able to serve our customers across the country,” commented Continental Tyres Ireland’s Paddy Murphy. “With their expertise in supply chain management and their state-of-the-art technology systems, IGL are the ideal partner for Continental in Ireland.” IGL director Robert Dickinson added: “We are delighted to have secured this major deal with Continental AG. It is testament to the very high levels of service offered by our company and both parties are looking forward to a very long and mutually beneficial partnership. Our two companies share visions of very high customer care and attention to detail and quality, so we feel very comfortable that the two organisations will be able to work very closely together for the benefit of Continental Tyres customers in Ireland.”
IGL works out of three sites in Dublin with over 100,000 square feet of new warehousing facilities. The company also operates an owned and contracted fleet of over 100 trucks and 80 vans in Ireland, which deliver several thousand consignments every day.
