Bridgestone increasing domestic market TBR prices
Prices for new Bridgestone truck and bus tyres in the Japanese market are to rise by an average of 10 per cent as of September 1, while retreaded truck and bus tyre prices will simultaneously increase by five per cent. The increase applies to both summer and winter tyres.
The reason for the planned increase is a familiar one; in announcing the new prices, Bridgestone names historic high price levels of raw materials as the motivating factor. Internal measures implemented to mitigate the affect of rising raw material prices, such as increased manufacturing efficiencies and productivity, are said to have been insufficient to stave of this latest price rise, the second Bridgestone has announced for Japan market truck and bus tyres this year.
Bridgestone’s price increase announcement, released July 1, ends with the caution that “if raw material costs remain at high levels, additional price increases may be necessary in the future.”
