TyreSafe welcomes first independent retailer
York Tyre Sales has become the first independent tyre retailer to join the ranks of TyreSafe as an associate member, and the safety organisation hopes the recently-opened business will be just the first of many to come on board and participate in the wide range of campaigns TyreSafe operates.
“I applaud York Tyre Sales for its commitment to tyre safety,” added TyreSafe chairman Stuart Jackson. “As a retailer, it can use its influence to educate customers directly on the importance of correct tyre maintenance to avoid becoming just another road casualty statistic. I would encourage as many tyre retailers as possible, whether they are sole traders or more sizeable multi-depot operations, to become TyreSafe members and help us to continue our essential work.”
Chris Bradley, who, along with brother Steve, is a director York Tyre Sales, first learnt of TyreSafe whilst researching tyre safety online. “As part of my work I’ve seen some absolutely shocking cases of worn and defective tyres, which are just accidents waiting to happen, he commented. “However, TyreSafe plays a vital role in making our roads a safer place so we were only too happy to join. Membership cost is very reasonable, besides, what price can you put on saving lives. We aim to promote tyre safety as best we can and will start by offering free tyre safety checks at our site.”
TyreSafe adds that independent garages, tyre dealers or other companies keen to join TyreSafe should contact Christine Joyce on 01787 226995 or visit www.tyresafe.org.
