Makita supports Breast Cancer Care
Makita, the power tool manufacturer, has chosen Breast Cancer Care as its first charity of the year. Makita hopes to raise £50,000 to support people affected by breast cancer. The firm chose Breast Cancer Care for their first partnership after several staff members were affected by the disease.
Makita reports it will encourage customers and staff to participate in a number of Breast Cancer Care fund raising initiatives which can be easily organised with the help of the charity. In the coming months, staff will be organising Strawberry Tea Parties, a Pink Friday during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, as well as planning sponsored runs, walks, climbs, treks and rides.
“Sadly most of us will know someone affected by this cruel disease, which is why we are inviting our customers to support a loved one or help others living with breast cancer. Breast cancer also affects men as well as women,” continues Kevin Brannigan. “It’s rare, but over 300 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the UK.”
