John Bywater Transport returns to ATS Euromaster
Pan-European operator and Pall-Ex member John Bywater Transport has announced its return to ATS Euromaster and Michelin, saying the two companies offer the most competitive truck tyre package on the market. The Kent-based haulier ended a 20-year tyre supply and servicing agreement with ATS Euromaster in late 2009 in favour of a local dealer fitting an alternative brand, but after 16 months managing director John Bywater has chosen to return.
He said: “We are always looking at the best option for our business in terms of whole life costs, and we tried an alternative solution. But our own comparative data showed that having ATS Euromaster fit Michelin tyres and squeeze every last mile of performance out of them offers us the best value. We have always enjoyed a good relationship with the ATS team and I am really pleased to be working with them again.”
John Bywater Transport began operating in 1986 and became a Pall-Ex member in 2009. The company runs a fleet of 45 tractor units and 35 trailers from two depots in Dover and Shrewsbury.
The revived agreement sees tyres serviced on-site by ATS Euromaster’s mobile fitting fleet, which is the largest in the UK. In addition to fitting tyres, this team also handles turning on the rim, twinning, wheel alignments and routine pressure checks to maintain tyres in optimum condition.
All Michelin tyres will be regrooved by ATS Euromaster and then remoulded in line with Michelin’s Four Lives policy, ensuring maximum value and minimum environmental impact. Tyre-related breakdowns in the UK are covered by ATS Euromaster’s 24/7 rapid-response team and overseas by the Euromaster network, which spans 15 countries.
