Halfords Autocentres to use Cam Systems e-commerce platform
Cam Systems has announced that Halfords Autocentres has signed an e-procurement agreement with the software provider, as it continues to develop its growth strategy. Halfords announced a proposed expansion of its network to 400 sites in May. Cam says the MIDaS-based platform will provide transactional interaction with Halfords’ wholesale suppliers to streamline its tyre buying processes. The system will also allow consumers to view product prices online in coordination with Halfords’ own B2C web facilities.
Duncan Wilkes, CEO, Halfords Autocentres, says: “It is important that our e-commerce platform aligns with our growth strategy whilst maintaining a low cost structure, enabling Halfords Autocentres to meet our objective of providing a specialist MOT, service, repair and tyre service that is as credible as the franchise dealer but as cost effective as the independent.”
Mike Allen, managing director of Cam Systems, comments: “As the Halfords Autocentres seek to upsell tyre replacement as part of the SMR work it is undertaking, the system will provide simple-to-use access to Halfords’ contracted suppliers based upon their agreed delivery Service Level commitments. Equally, suppliers will enjoy the benefits of straight-through-processing for their sales orders with near real-time updates into their own systems.”
The MIDaS implementation is a strategic IT enabler on the back of Halfords’ recent tyre supply tender process. The managed trading platform will enable the MOT, service, repair and tyre retailer to place orders directly upon contracted tyre wholesalers who will deliver into the various Halfords Autocentre sites, depending on location, stock holding and speed of delivery required as defined within their Halfords’ supply contract.
