Grouptyre membership “key” in B.A.B. Distribution expansion
Grouptyre member and wholesale operation of BA Bush & Son, B.A.B. Distribution has announced an expansion of its operation along the east coast of England. The company currently operates 17 centres across Lincolnshire, East Yorkshire, Humberside and Cambridgeshire, having opened four new facilities over the past two years, and it now aims to have 20 outlets by the end of the year on the back of continued growth. The wholesale group says the expansion shows that it is committed to growing its market share by investing to improve the supply chain.
Each Bush Tyres centre conducts a mix of retail and wholesale business, holding at least 1,000 tyres in stock, though the company’s main wholesale stockholding units are in Scunthorpe, Boston, Hull, Kings Lynn, Beverley, Goole and Spalding. Director Tom Bush explains: “As a member of Grouptyre we offer all the services available through a national wholesaler plus extensive local market knowledge and this, together with sound financial planning and a commitment to high standards of service and quality facilities, has enabled us to grow our business at a time when several small stockists in our region have succumbed to the challenging trading environment.
“Our ability to forward order and container source all the premium brands plus a number of exclusive value brands through Grouptyre gives us a significant advantage, especially now, when product availability in some quarters is an issue. However, the fact that we offer such a comprehensive delivery service is equally as important as being able to buy products that small stockists cannot access and supply them at a more competitive price.”
Grouptyre says B.A.B. Distribution plays a key role in its geographical strategy, with a network of distribution points intended to provide a fast and reliable delivery service. B.A.B. has 50 vans on the road offering both mobile fitting and multiple, same day tyre delivery services, while on-demand delivery is also available in some areas. If a required tyre pattern is not available at a particular Bush Tyres site, it can be delivered quickly via one of the hub outlets, allowing retailers to be confident of satisfying customer needs without holding large product stocks.
“Our membership of Grouptyre played a key part in our recent business expansion, enabling us to gain additional contracts through our B.A.B. Distribution wholesale operation, particularly in the north of our region,” adds Bush. “Being a specialist in the commercial and agricultural sector has also contributed to our growth and influenced other service areas of our company.
“As a consequence of this additional business in a highly competitive market, and to ensure that all our customers receive the very best service that we are renowned for, we are actively seeking to set up at least three more Bush Tyres outlets on the northern and southern borders of our territory.”
