Four suppliers honoured in inaugural Michelin awards ceremony
On June 15, Michelin presented awards to four of its suppliers in recognition of their exceptional contribution in 2010. Held in the tyre maker’s home town of Clermont-Ferrand, the ceremony followed a rigorous assessment of the Michelin Group’s portfolio of suppliers.
Three suppliers received the Quality Prize for their outstanding quality performance, in compliance with the Group’s highest standards. These were: Lanxess Polybutadiene Rubber, a chemicals manufacturer, in the Raw Materials and Energy category; Gonzales Frères, a precision machinery manufacturer, in the Industrial Procurement category; Mediaedge/KR Media, a media agency, in the Service Procurement category. A Special Prize was also awarded to carbon black and silica manufacturer Evonik for the excellence of its relationship with Michelin in terms of product quality, innovation and service levels.
The four suppliers were presented with a trophy by Jean-Dominique Senard, co-managing general partner of the Michelin Group, in the presence of several members of Michelin’s Group Executive Council, the company’s chief purchasing officer and chief quality officer. Michelin says the awards are destined to become an annual event and are designed to honour partnership excellence in trustworthy, win-win relationships that offer everyone opportunities to innovate and become more competitive, thereby creating more shared value.
