Dunlop to support National Motorsport Week
National Motorsport Week, which will run between 25 June and 3 July, will receive the backing of UK motorsport tyre manufacturer Dunlop, the company has announced. The initiative is led by the Motor Sports Association and the Motorsport Industry Association and is intended to encourage more people to participate in motorsport and reaffirm the country’s dominant position internationally.
Dunlop will hold tours of its Birmingham motorsport factory on 30 June, holding a presentation on motorsport tyre production and the compounds which help teams and individuals to gain a competitive advantage. Café Dunlop will offer refreshments to visitors in addition to a BTCC car and an FTR Moto 2 replica bike. Dunlop will also offer paddock tours at the Snetterton round of the BTCC, at which visitors will see the Dunlop tyre fitting service in action.
Dunlop Brand Manager, Andy Marfleet stated: “National Motorsport Week is for all clubs, associations, teams, venues and businesses who have an involvement in motorsport; it is for everyone, by everyone. The purpose of engagement is not simply to make a passing impression, but to drive home some serious messages about motorsport into the national consciousness, to stimulate consumer and competitor activity.”
“National Motorsport Week is a great opportunity for driving and racing enthusiasts to gain greater knowledge of the Motorsport industry. Dunlop is offering people the opportunity to gain an insight into the role of tyres within motorsport. With Dunlop being involved in events like BTCC, Le Mans 24 hours, Moto 2 and Isle of Man TT we are well positioned to talk tyre technology with members of the public and explain our race to road philosophy.”
The 2011 week will culminate at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, one week before the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
