Cooper a potential Trayal investor
Various Balkan region news sources have reported Cooper Tire & Rubber’s intention to invest in Serbia’s Trayal. The US firm’s plans apparently involve investing 50 million euros in Trayal over the next two years and increasing production from one million to 3.4 million tyres during that time and then boosting it to seven million over the subsequent two years.
At present Bulgarian energy concern Brikel EAD holds a majority share in Trayal Corporation, and according to the state secretary with Serbia’s Ministry of Finance, Miodrag Djidic, Cooper’s investment will not end Brikel’s involvement with the Serbian manufacturer, who in addition to tyres produces rubber goods, protective devices and explosives.
