Conti's “right answer” – the LSR1+ and LDR1+
According to Continental, two new tyres it has launched “provide exactly the right answer to the diverse challenges of regional and cross-regional transport.” This assertion refers to the German manufacturer’s LSR1+ steer axle tyre and LDR1+ drive axle tyre; 17.5-inch fitments that Conti says prove their qualities in both urban and long-distance use.
“Being true all-round talents, the tyres on light trucks need to prove themselves over and over again day after day,” stated Continental upon launching the new tyres. “Downtown delivery rounds require both nimble performance and resistance to curb contact as well as to overloading at specific points. Regional distribution assignments demand optimum road grip, good braking performance and low rolling resistance. Continental’s new LSR1+ and LDR1+ for 17.5 inch wheels and for widths of 205 to 265 millimetres with 75 cross section are lined up in this demanding field with top figures.”
According to Conti, the use of an “all-new material” compound has enabled rolling resistance to be reduced by up to ten per cent without an associated reduction in handling and durability qualities. Furthermore, the manufacturer says the tyres allow fuel savings of between three and four per cent to be achieved together with an overall increased mileage. “Due to their savings potential, the new Continental tyres make a considerable contribution to the overall economy of the vehicle in distribution assignments,” the company adds.
The LSR1+ offers a ‘3 plus 2’ groove design with a closed shoulder structure that Continental says allows it to withstand lateral shearing forces when cornering. Its drive axle counterpart has been configured for optimum traction with low rolling resistance through the use of “numerous lateral openings and a high base of tread groove.”
Both tyres are available in the following sizes: 205/75 R17.5, 215/75 R17.5, 225/75 R17.5, 235/75 R17.5, 245/75 R17.5 and 265/75 R17.5.
