Calculate costs precisely with Tyre Tracker
Australian firm Bears Tyres says its Tyre Tracker is now even more accurate than ever. The reason for this is, the company explains, is that users can now draw upon data gained over years in the field. Tyre Tracker collected data for a well-known Australian fleet operator over a seven-year period and Bears Tyres says this has provided the software system with enough data to see it used by any similar-sized fleet operator.
Tyre Tracker co-inventor and Bears Tyres managing director, Brad Bearman, says the software can be used in just about any industrial sector where truck fleets are paramount to the bottom line. “The Tyre Tracker has always functioned to work out the exact cost of the life of a tyre, but now we have a highly qualified bank of data collected over the past seven years in a real, working industry application,” he commented. “So now we can also apply that data from the field to any fleet operator in Australia.
“We have collected enough information to use as a reference and we can now easily work out the exact tyre for the exact truck or trailer and, together with our unique tyre management service, predict exactly how long that tyre will last and more importantly, cost, over its lifespan”, he added. In fact, Bearman says the data that he has collected over the past seven years is ‘priceless’.
“I doubt if anyone in Australia has collected this type and amount of tyre-related data”, he elaborated “By using Bear’s Tyre Tracker and managing the tyres, we can help fleet operators save anywhere between 20-30 per cent on their monthly tyre costs, which means for an operator of up to 500 vehicles, we are talking about a saving of roughly AU$10,000 per month.”
However, as Bearman stresses, this kind of money can’t be saved by the Tyre Tracker alone – fleet operators must have a solid tyre management regime in place: “The Tyre Tracker is a great piece of equipment but it’s only part of an integrated tyre management process.”
