Lanxess progresses with HQ relocation plan
Following a two year recession-related delay, plans for German specialty chemicals group Lanxess to transfer its corporate headquarters from Leverkusen to the nearby city of Cologne are back on track. More than 1,000 Lanxess employees will make the 15 kilometre move to a newly renovated 22-storey building in the second half of 2013; the new headquarters’ opening will bring almost all the company’s management functions under one roof.
“We have found an ideal location for Lanxess in Cologne, and are really looking forward to moving to our new home city,” said Lanxess AG chairman of the Board Axel C. Heitmann at the company’s May 18 Annual Stockholders’ Meeting. Cologne, he added, has an infrastructure unique to the region plus excellent transport connections and is renowned as an academic and research centre. “The high cost-efficiency of the new company headquarters and the benefits of Cologne as a location will assist us in our course of growth.”
