Goodyear extends tyre range for telehandlers on hard ground
Goodyear has announced an extension to its range of durable radial industrial tyres, the IT630T, with the first size available the most popular one for these machines: 460/70R24. The new tyre is designed for use in hard ground applications, with its primary utilisation on telescopic handler machines, denoted by the suffix T.
Goodyear says the IT630T is made for the growing number of modern, sophisticated telehandlers in the private or rental market. The tyre is designed for the new generation of stronger telehandlers with higher boom reach and increased lift capacity, operating on a variety of hard surfaces found in farm yards or utility depots. The new tyre is designed to complement the IT620T, launched in 2009, which is designed for soft soil applications.
The IT630T features a combined block and lug pattern to provide increased grip and traction on a variety of operating surfaces; a high net to gross ratio tread pattern, meaning a larger rubber surface area in contact with the ground that combines with a deep tread to extend the life of the tyre and provide additional resistance to punctures; and a flat and wide tread profile, improving stability when the machine’s boom is fully extended or operating with high platform or bucket loads. The tyre features the distinctive new sidewall design first seen on the IT620T.
Phil Stanton, Goodyear’s Farm Tyre manager, said: “As these machines become more versatile and are expected to carry out many different operations on varying surfaces we have found that there is a need for a tyre that is designed to operate on hard surfaces. The IT630T has been designed to provide the high levels of stability demanded by these high load and high lift machines but also to give extended tread life and resistance to punctures which reduces down time and helps reduce operating costs.” Goodyear says the tyre will gradually include further sizes and load capabilities.
